About Us

Emma Argeñal is a senior civil engineering major at the College of New Jersey. Emma is originally from Honduras. This past summer she interned for Whiting-Turner Construction Company. Before that, she interned at Advance Scale. On-campus, Emma is the president of the international and domestic student organization and the diversity, equity, and inclusion chair of Theta Tau ( engineering fraternity). For the concrete canoe team, Emma is part of the concrete mix team. She will be in charge of making and testing various concrete mix designs. Through extensive research and laboratory experiments, Emma will be able to select a concrete mix that floats.

Frank Donato is a member of the mix design team for the project. Frank will be contributing to the research and design of the concrete mix. Extensive experiments and test runs will be performed by Frank to determine the best possible mix design for the canoe. Frank is a senior at The College of New Jersey, and is involved with some clubs and organizations with the college, as well as being a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. After graduating, Frank is seeking a full-time job, in addition to working on securing a Professional Engineering Licensure.

As a student at the College of New Jersey, Cristian has been making tremendous strides in student involvement. He used his experience in leadership positions to land an internship with Kimley-Horn this past summer and worked in their transportation engineering team. In this project, Cristian seeks to implement the skills he strengthened in teamwork and effective communication to help the team in their goal of creating a suitable hull design. In his spare time, Cristian loves to volunteer with Trenton organizations and serve as a counselor/mentor and tutor to elementary/high school students. Upon graduation, Cristian will rejoin Kimley-Horn’s transportation team in a full-time position.

Gerald Madden is a senior year civil engineering student enrolled at The College of New Jersey. He is contributing to the team as the Team Leader. This entails registering the group for the competition, organizing team meetings, leading all presentations, and acting as a general manager for all work. In addition to this role, Gerald will serve on the hull design team. Along side Crisitian Huertas, he will work to research, design, and fabricate a structurally sound canoe that balances speed and velocity. 

On campus, Gerald stays active as the captain of the Men's Club Rugby Team. Gerald has work experience as an intern at SESI
